Local Housing Allowance Payments

You can ask the Credit Union to process your Local Housing Allowance.

This special service helps you keep your rent payments safe for your landlord, you won’t be tempted to spend it for other purposes or get it muddled up with your other finances, thus keeping a roof over your head and your landlord happy.

If you would like your housing benefits processed direct to your landlord:-

You must be a member (see our 'FAQ's / how to join' page)

Collect the forms from our Office (3 Warrior Square),

Return part to the LHA benefits processing officer.
Take the rest to your Landlord to complete and return to us, then your rent can be paid directly to the landlord without any delays.

Southend Credit Union makes a small charge to the landlord for this service, please ensure your landlord is happy to pay this:

£5.00 for rents upto £500.
£7.50 for rents between £501 and £750.
£10.00 for rents between £751 and £1000.
