Southend Credit Union In partnership with Estuary Housing and Circles project will be opening a new collection point at the Centre Place Family Centre on the Kursaal Estate. The opening will take place on Friday 18th July 2008 at 2.00pm. The collection point will then be open Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 4pm thereafter. It will be possible to become a member and join the Credit Union at Centre Place, and members will be able to make deposits and pay their loan accounts. It will also be possible to withdraw cash subject to available funds and a limit of £50 per day. If larger sums are required then these can be withdrawn from York Road. Junior Savers who join will benefit from a 'Regular Savers' incentive scheme, where they can receive Piggy Banks, Crayons, Pencil Cases, Mouse Mats, Pens and Backpacks. Barons Court Infant School have become the latest school in the Southend area to begin a savings scheme with Southend Credit Union for it's pupils. The scheme encourages pupils to start saving money and to involve the children with setting up the scheme a competition was held for them to redesign the Savings Card that would record their progress. The winner was Rhyann Harle Sellick, aged 7, who came up with the 'Piggy Bank Savers' card which have been printed and are now being used with the school alongside an incentive based savings scheme.
